Gather Health Invests Over $1 Million in New Primary Care Facility Serving Older Adults in Lynn

Gather Health aims to bring over 50 jobs to Lynn, with a goal of enhancing the well-being of older adults by providing essential health management benefits and fostering a stronger sense of community.

BOSTON, MA (August 16, 2024) – Gather Health, a primary care medical practice exclusively serving older adults eligible for Medicare, has invested over $1 million into its newest facility in Lynn. Mayor Jared C. Nicholson along with Gather Health leadership commemorated the opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 15, 2024, at the new 50 Boston Street location.

“It is my great honor to congratulate Gather Health on your opening here in the City of Lynn where we certainly have a tremendous need for your service, with respect to access in healthcare,” said Mayor Jared C. Nicholson of the City of Lynn. “We are fortunate to have a large and important senior population, and to know there is another avenue for our older adults to get the care they need and deserve is a great step for this community.”

Gather Health follows an innovative primary care model that allows patients the option to receive quality care in-clinic, at home, or virtually – depending on the patient’s unique medical and social needs. With Gather, every patient receives a dedicated team of experts from their own community, including a Gather Guide Partner and an Emergency Medical Technician to provide social and technical support, along with at-home patient care. With a mission of building teams that represent the communities they serve; Gather aims to provide over 50 jobs to the Lynn community. Gather also offers transportation to patients for medical visits, along with regularly scheduled events and classes for the community.

Partnered with the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, the North Shore Latino Business Association (NSLBA), and senior-focused organizations in the Lynn community, this is the second Gather Health facility to open in the Greater Boston area, following the opening of its first primary care practice in Quincy last year. Gather Health plans to open two additional facilities this year, in Brockton and Dorchester.

“I was an emergency physician for the first half of my career, and I saw what happens when patients don’t get enough primary care. It was very sad admitting patients to the hospital for the fifth or sixth time that year for the same problem, when I knew if they just had better primary care, many of those hospitalizations could have been avoided, and they would have been able to spend more time with the people they love,” said Dr. Brent Asplin, CEO and Co-Founder of Gather Health. “We hear a lot about the lack of primary care access across the country, here in Massachusetts and the Greater Boston area. It’s particularly a problem for older adults on Medicare, and we want to step into that gap and help support people not only with care here in the center, but also with care in the home. At Gather, we want to know you as a person and treat you as a neighbor, before we treat you as a patient.”
