Gather Health Opens First Primary Care Practice in Quincy for Older Adults

Gather Health celebrated the grand opening of its first permanent practice in Quincy, MA on Monday, Nov. 20 with a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by Mayor Tom Koch.

QUINCY, MA — Gather Health celebrated the grand opening of its first permanent practice in Quincy, MA on Monday, Nov. 20 with a ribbon cutting ceremony officiated by Mayor Tom Koch.  In addition to Mayor Koch, Tim Cahill, President of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Brent Asplin, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gather Health, also participated in the ceremony.  Approximately 50 people were in attendance as the doors officially opened at the new facility located at 205 Parkingway.

Gather Health serves older adults in underserved communities with primary care that includes both social and home-based support. Caregivers deliver holistic healthcare to older adults that includes everything from at-home visits, to transportation to doctor appointments and even social events such as Bingo.

“I can’t think of anything more important than what’s opening here today,” said Mayor Koch. He praised Gather Health’s high touch-point, primary care approach that is aimed at keeping older adults out of the hospital and in their community, “One size fits all healthcare doesn’t work anymore,” he said.

Gather Health was founded by physicians and healthcare leaders with decades of experience in the delivery of total primary care. Unlike conventional Doctor’s offices, Gather Health specializes in dealing with the complex needs of older adult patients.

“Gather Health wants to be part of the fabric of this great city,” said Dr. Brent Asplin, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gather Health. “Our goal is to make primary care more assessable and effective for elderly residents.  By supporting patients both at home and at the center, we feel our model does just that.”

Frank Christmas, a local resident, spoke briefly at the grand opening about his experience as a patient of Gather Health. He said their approach has worked well for him, and encouraged his elderly neighbors “to get with the program.”

The new Quincy location is Gather Health’s first permanent practice in Massachusetts, but Asplin said the company will open two additional locations in Eastern Massachusetts in 2024.
